Admissions

Applications are accepted on a year-round basis. Upon application to Carousel School, the child will participate in Carousel School’s “Visit Program” where he/she can get an introduction to the program. This visit will give your child the opportunity to meet the educational/therapy staff and to experience the classroom. The visit is an essential component to the Carousel model as it assists the staff in making the final decision on permanent enrollment. Students may attend the one- or two-day visit at no expense to the parents/guardians. The number of visit days will be determined by our Special Education Interdisciplinary Team which includes the Special Education Director, Behavior Supervisor, and our clinical staff. Final enrollment decisions are also made by this Special Education Interdisciplinary team. In some cases, a determination of an applicant’s enrollment will be made in less than one or two days. Upon the offer of official enrollment, parents will receive a complete Admissions Packet.

Children ages 0 through 3 years old who have a diagnosed disability or special need, or who are at risk of developmental delays may receive specialized programming. Through Carousel’s Early Intervention Program, children with special needs may participate in an integrated half-day preschool program with typically developing peers, while also receiving the additional therapeutic support services they need. Since learning and development is most rapid during the preschool years, it is critical to provide early identification and intervention for children at this time. The timing of early intervention is critical to optimize children’s ability to meet their developmental milestones on time.

Admission
Children ages 0 through 3 years old, who have been identified by the Regional Center as either “at risk” due to developmental delays or developmentally disabled, may be considered for admission to the program.

Parents are encouraged to take an introductory tour of our facilities, observe potential classroom placements for their child, and meet with the School Director.
