Occupational Therapy Assistant

Amada is a bilingual, licensed occupational therapist with more than 17 years experience of working with the geriatric and pediatric populations in school, home health, group home, nursing home, and acute hospital settings. She has worked throughout the state of California as well as other areas of the United States.

At Carousel School, Amada works in the classrooms co-developing lesson plans with teachers. She works directly with the children, in groups and one-to-one, to implement these plans both in the early intervention and school-based classrooms. Amada works closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals to help successfully implement the lesson plan goals, and to help promote the parents’ and teachers’ understanding and skills related to the children’s needs. As a member of the trans-disciplinary treatment team, Amada meets regularly with the parent and teacher, and attends all IEP meetings.

She earned her certificate in occupational therapy at Mount Saint Mary’s College, and she is certified by California Board of Occupational Therapy and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Amada attends at least 12 continuing education hours annually, some of the topics of her recent trainings include: autism, cerebral palsy, behavior intervention, sensory integration, and hand writing.
