Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program

Specialized Services for Students with a Traumatic Brain Injury

Carousel School offers students a specialized day class appropriate to meet their needs in the areas of academics (either general education or alternate curriculum), communication and technology, and social/emotional and behavioral needs. Students will receive individualized attention and support from their credentialed teachers, lead instructional assistants, and behavioral aides. Students will also receive their prescribed therapies during the school day. Carousel utilizes a collaborative method between teachers, therapists, and families. Our multidisciplinary team of clinicians and educators provide a safe and intimate environment for students to learn, grow, and transition.

Program Description

Carousel’s TBI Program provides students with a safe and supportive environment where they can learn and thrive. Students are encouraged to strengthen their existing skills, and build upon those skills by developing new ones. Students and their families receive comprehensive educational programming and services. Our research-based curriculum and low teacher-to-participant ratio supports students so they can achieve success. Our staff members use a student’s IEP (Individualized Education Plan) to design the most supportive and successful service plan that includes comprehensive educational programming, therapy and counseling, and regular monitoring by the transdisciplinary team. All students have opportunities to engage their peers, and students and families are encouraged to participate in the C.A.R.E. Program, where they can become familiar with the services offered at Carousel, and our staff can become familiar with the needs of the student and family.
